January 18, 2016 at 11:48 amI’ve been listening to DAB for over a year now and flooding my life with God’s Word has made a dramatic difference.
I’ve never shared my prayer requests before because I’ve always felt, that compared to what others share, my concerns are trivial.
I fully believe that God is in control of all things and I am daily reminding myself of that fact. However, God has also been reminding me that He desires for us to share our concerns with other brothers and sisters so that they can pray for us also.
So, here it goes. I feel as if through one disaster after another God is trying to get (mostly my husband’s) attention. From major health issues in our family (coming down one right after the other), just about every appliance and vehicle we own breaking down in some way, still paying on my student loans (and now helping our oldest daughter pay for hers), and the list goes on. We used to have the proverbial 3 months wages in savings, but within the last year with everything (including the health of many individuals in our – our kids and ourselves) apart as it has we now have over $10,000.00 in credit to pay off, and my husband is now so depressed he said tonight that he feels like a failure and just wants to die. Months ago, when he went to our pastor and elder board (of which he was a member) for counsel, they asked him:
# Don’t you have a family budget and 3 months emergency funds saved up.
– Why,yes we do, or DID…before it had to be used for all these emergencies.
#Well do you have anything you can sell?
– No, we do not. We have nothing of value, and what we did have is valueless now.…well, long story shortened, they basically accused him of not providing for his family properly. This hardworking man, who teaches highschool math and has 2-3 side-jobs doing yard work and and construction! (I also jave 2 jobs. One as a minimum wage teacher at our church’s preschool/daycare center, and the other as a substitute teacher for our public school district–and that folks is what a Masters in Teaching gets you in this economy).
Oh, and guess what? Since they felt that he now did not qualify to be an elder because he wasn’t “providing properly for his family” they kicked him off the elder board!
My husband is now going theew a crisis of faith. He doesnt pray, he doesn’t read his bible…. Now, now I DO believe that God wants him to do a better job of sheparding and guiding his family. Of being the spiritual leader in our family. Unfortunately, if this is discipline to draw him closer to God it’s not happening…yet. And if he goes down our whole family is sucked down this road also.
I do not want to be Job’s wife. Instead, I want to be a gentle, loving, and respectful wife that doesn’t harm him but shows Jesus in all I say and do, a light illuminating a path right back to his loving Father in heaven. I pray that my husband’s heart be emblazed by the Spirit with a passion for God. A renewed faith and trust in Him. To once again become the spiritual leader in our family.
I pray that God, our Father, miraculously provide for our family in such a way that there is no denying it was Him, so that my husband can once again believe that our Father in heaven loves us, is in control of all things, and is still Jehoveh-jireh, the God who provides. In and through the name of my savior, Jesus our Christ, I pray these things.
Amen

January 18, 2016 at 6:04 pmLife is so hard, isn’t it? It’s hard enough when we’re taking care of those people we love, and trying to handle our affairs, but things happen. Sometimes difficulty comes because of circumstances, sometimes because of poor decisions, and sometimes it’s a test. I’m so glad your here! I’m so glad you are a part of this amazing family. I wish I could say something that would heal this situation today. I can’t, but we both know who can, you said it yourself, God who provides. Just know those of us who have been through it understand what it’s like to be in the desert. It is so lonely, but it can also be an amazing gift, albeit a difficult one. I bet when all this is said and done you and your husband will have such empathy for people going through difficulties such as these. I bet you will be a comfort to many.
Sometimes we forget as church leaders that it’s not always about procedure, sometimes it’s about listening and loving someone enough to get into the messy part of ministry. The part where we are our brothers keeper. I will be praying for you (you amazing woman of God), your husband (who God loves immeasurably), your finances, your church leadership, and your testimony (because I pray this will be an amazing one.).
For the one who is faithful and true is in your corner, so there is no better place to be. 🙂jojosiscoPrayers: 25Requests: 4
January 19, 2016 at 9:25 amPrayers for you to remain strong not only for him but for your own spirit. Make sure to practice self care and to support the little steps your husband is taking. I feel the church or the people you trust to lead your spiritual life should be there are to support their family when they are going through difficult times. Not to do so is a tragedy and I can’t understand what they are thinking. Reach deep in your heart to hear Jesus guide you in your decisions to stay or leave this church. If it’s just the church and not the religion, perhaps a change to find more supportive leadership is in order. Take care and it’s one thing at a time to get through any hardships. Prayers for you and Larry.

January 19, 2016 at 3:40 pmI am always amazed how little the teachers get paid for the work they really do to society. I am also sorry that your leaders of your church are not able to comfort you during these hard times. I agree with Larry. Keep supporting your husband. He needs your Light to shine through you. Words do sometimes not work but actions do.
“If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up”.. Remember the scripture in Ecclesiastes 4:10Here a prayer which I think you should speak out loudly and stand on it.
Father, Your Word declares that You take pleasure in the prosperity of Your servants, those who favor Your righteous cause (Psalm 35:27). You promised that if I gave my attention to what You are doing right now, You would take care of whatever difficulties and needs I would face (Matthew 6:33).
Because I have made Your cause my cause, and because I have made Your House my house, I thank You that the windows of heaven are being opened to me, and that You are protecting me from every assault of the enemy (Malachi 3:8-12). Because I give freely to You from the first of my income, it shall be given to me from every side and from every source (Luke 6:38; Proverbs 3:9-10).Because You have given me the ability to create wealth (Deut 8:18), and I have purposed in my heart not to give sparingly or begrudgingly, but faithfully, generously and with a cheerful heart, You will not abandon me in my time of need. All grace will come into my life, so that in every situation I will have more than I need, with resources left over to be a blessing to others (2 Cor 9:6-9).
Because I have been faithful in this small thing of living to give, You will make me faithful over much and give to me stewardship of the true riches of life (Luke 16:10-12). No beneficial thing will You withhold from me (Psalm 84:11). In my house will be wealth and riches (Psalm 112:3), and in that day of prosperity I will rejoice and remember Your goodness (Eccles 7:14).
You are El Shaddai, God Almighty, the All-Sufficient One, the God of plenty. You are the Source of “more than enough” (Genesis 17:1). Father, You always exceed the needs I have. You are my Shepherd, I shall not want (Psalm 23:1). You are Jehovah-Jireh, the One who goes before and You will make a way when there is no way, and in the midst of every need I will find provision (Genesis 22:14).
I will not forget to bless Your Name, neither will I neglect Your Word to continue to give, for You have given me what I have to introduce the world to You and to support the expansion of Your Kingdom (Deut 8:10-11, 18). I have learned the secret of true contentment in life for I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me, and supplies my every need according to His riches in heaven (Phil 4:12-13, 19). I am living under an open heaven (Malachi 3:10).

January 25, 2016 at 4:14 pmPraying for you and your family. This is the evil one’s way of trying to destroy your family. Stay strong in your faith and pray diligently. Trust God, He will not fail you. Ask the Lord what you are to do and listen for the answers. You are not alone.
Dear Lord,
Please place this family on the solid rock of your love. Strengthen their faith and their love for each other during this time of trial and growth. Remind them that everything will be used for good for those who love you and are called according to your purpose. Place your full armor on them, individually and as a family so they may defend against satan’s attacks. I pray a hedge of protection around them. Please send an army of angels to shield them and comfort them while they follow the path you have set before them. This is a season and it shall pass. Bless them with joy and confidence. In Jesus’ name we pray. -
