July 13, 2016 at 1:51 amDear family
Please pray for me as I am suffering from stress at work resulting in trouble sleeping. I am getting maybe four hour maximum and right now I’m awake after only two hours and cannot get back to sleep. I am a teacher and there are so many things to deal with. I love my job and I have great relationships with all the children, parents and staff but it is workload pressures and constant deadlines that is the problem. I have a lot of family responsibility too and find that I am working up to twenty hours a day in order to get everything done. Thankfully I will get a six week break at the end of next week so please pray I can get to the end of term without having to call in sick.
I am so full of joy and happiness with my job but the problem is I just cannot switch off. I feel constantly energised and hyper focused. I go from one task to another and another and it continues when I get home. I am trying to stop this by going for a walk and listening to the birdsong or sitting down to read or knit. But the pressure to meet daily deadlines means that work is being brought home every day,
Thanks for your prayers
Rachel

July 13, 2016 at 10:47 pmWhen I faced stress at work, I used Scripture to help me sleep. It took my mind off of the daily stress and put it on God’s Word. Two of the passages that I used the most often were:
Psalm 4:8:
In peace I will both lie down and sleep,
For you alone, Lord,
Make me dwell in safety.
Proverbs 3:24:
When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.Scripture quotations are taken from the Holy Bible, New International Version.

July 14, 2016 at 4:47 amRachel, as a former kindergarten teacher I somewhat understand what you are going through. Your ideas to help yourself switch off and slow down are good.
Father I pray you show Rachel a way out of the stress she is dealing with. It is robbing her of sleep, joy and more. Help her order each day to be productive, meet deadlines, take care of her family and also to “be still” and sit at your feet.
Proverbs 3:5,6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make RACHEL’S paths straight.”

July 15, 2016 at 2:08 amHi Rachel – Perhaps listening to the Daily Prayer on DAB or Ransomed Heart might help. While I don’t think you are under attack, I do think focusing on Jesus might help. Perhaps it will calm your mind.
I understand, as I go through the same thing at times, but mine is mostly overthinking problems.
I will pray for you and the calming of your mind so you can sleep.
